Add Some Color to Your Backyard Garden
I borrowed this idea from our local plant nursery. They took a standard steel tomato cage and painted it a glossy shade of yellow. Great idea that adds a fun pop of color to your garden for about $8 and an hour or so of your time.
Supplies
- Steel tomato cage
- White primer spraypaint
- Glossy colored spraypaint
- Cardboard or something to prevent spray all over the ground

Hi! I’d love to add some color to my cages and trellis’ in my garden, is there any reason to be nervous about paint on vegetable supports? Once its dry, do I need to worry about it leaching chemicals into my plants or soil? Thats the only reason I haven’t painted my items yet!
Thanks for checking out the project. I haven’t had any ill effects due to the paint. It is a gloss finish that dries really hard, so I doubt it can leach anything significant enough to cause any damage.
